3 ways to store ukuleles in your classroom

151 litre = 40 gallons

114 litre = 30 gallons

Over the past 20 years of teaching ukulele, I have tried storing ukuleles many ways and each has its pros and cons.

1. Storing ukuleles in the cardboard boxes that they came in:

Pro  - Looks nice seeing all those boxes lined up.  Fits nice in a cupboard.

Con - Takes a long time to hand out and collect.

                                                 - Boxes break.

                                                 - Difficult to check if kids have fooled around with the tuning pegs when teaching one class
                                                    right after the last.
(There is usually one kid in the class who will untune the uke if they think they can get away with it.)
                                                 - Very difficult to do if you are on rotary

2. Hanging ukuleles on the wall:

Pro  - Looks really nice seeing the ukes hanging the wall.

                                                 - Ukes can be numbered and assigned to kids.

                                                -  You can walk past them quickly to see if they are in tune.
Con - Difficult to check if kids have fooled around with the tuning pegs when teaching one class

                                                  right after the last.

                                                 - Can't store ukuleles on the wall if you are on rotary or if you have no wall space.

3. Store ukuleles in buckets : *My favourite* - watch the video to see how I store ukuleles in a bucket:

Pro  - You can get 30 ukes tuned and handed out in less than 3 minutes.

                                                 - If on rotary, you can send 4 students to the storage closet to bring your ukuleles to the classroom.
                                                -  At the end of class, you can personally check to see if the ukuleles are still in tune.
Con - You need a place to store two large buckets.
